Over the course of this week, our group took on an introspective look at our collective experience of isolation. Confronted with the pandemic and a global state of exception, these few days served as an opportunity to listen, discuss, share and respond creatively to the realness of what is soon to become the ‘new normality.’ By applying the image of the window, both as a literal frame as well as a figurative statement, we were given an opportunity to scrutinise the value of existing social agreements, discuss the future of interpersonal relationships, and explore the cultural as well as personal experience of isolation and digital togetherness.
United together within the virtual sphere of a collection of windows, the outcome reflects the numerous hopes and anxieties of our group in response to the current emergency situation. States of isolation: The world from the windows of my room project has become a collective cross-cultural opportunity for us to relate and reflect upon the uncertainty of the 'shared' world in crisis experience.
